A LM-3B carrier rocket lifted off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center at 2:09 Beijing time on June 25, successfully putting the BeiDou 3 IGSO-2 satellite into orbit.
IGSO-2 satellite, the 21st BeiDou 3 satellite as well as the 46th BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) satellite,was developed by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST). At present,there are 18 MEO, 1 GEO and IGSO satellites among all the BeiDou 3 satellites.
The satellite uses the DFH-3B platform with a design life of 12 years and a lift-off mass of 5400 kg. It will improve the coverage and positioning accuracy of BDS as part of the network.
The LM-3B carrier rocket was developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT). This was the 102nd mission of the LM-3 series launch vehicle and the 307th mission of the LM family. (JIANG Qiongqiong/China Space News)
