I often profess1 my undying2 love for one movie then hop onto the next one the following week. However， a few titles do grab my affection and hold tight. Director Michael Graceys new musical drama， “The Greatest Showman”， is one such film.

我經(jīng)常說(shuō)我永遠(yuǎn)愛(ài)某一部電影，然后下周就跳了另一部。然而，一些電影的名字確實(shí)深深吸引了我，并緊緊抓住了我的情感。導(dǎo)演邁克爾·格雷西的新音樂(lè)劇《馬戲之王》就是這樣一部電影。

“The Greatest Showman” tells P. T. Barnums rise to fame as the inventor of “show business” and the circus3. This movie is a musical with a gorgeous4 soundtrack， a stellar5 cast， and wonderful visuals.

《馬戲之王》講述了巴納姆作為“表演事業(yè)”和馬戲團(tuán)的鼻祖而聲名鵲起的故事。這部電影是一部有著華麗的配樂(lè)、優(yōu)秀的演員陣容，以及美妙的視覺(jué)效果的音樂(lè)劇。

Today， musicals seem largely a thing of the past. Perhaps this is why “The Greatest Showman” is so unique. There are a lot of catchy songs such as “This is Me”， a lament6 to being different; “Rewrite the Stars”， a heartbreaking love song; and my personal favorite， “The Other Side”.

Of course， these songs wouldnt be nearly as magical without each actor bringing them to life. Hugh Jackman stars as Barnum， who is struggling to provide for his wife and two daughters. He creates a show， which becomes a “circus” show. Each characters story weaves an intricate7 web with the others， all with one main root： discrimination8 because of differences. The amazing cast is able to play each story to enhance9 the big picture， and make you fall in love with each character individually.

The visuals of “The Greatest Showman” are stunning10. The bursting lights， wonderful costumes， and daring stunts11 kept my eyes stuck to the screen. One particular scene is when Anne and Phillip are swinging from high ropes and trapezes12 in a breathtaking， romantic spectacle13. The dance is sure to get even the strictest audience excited. Colors are even used to affect the mood. When the mood is happy and energizing， bright， warm colors excite the viewer. Cooler， darker colors dominate14 the screen in the more serious scenes.

Through all the films wonders， it is important to keep in mind that “The Greatest Showman” is not incredibly accurate historically. Barnum who Jackman plays as a creative， lovable family man who created a safe space for all kinds of people was actually quite different in real life. Also， many of the characters were changed （whether by name or personality）， or entirely made-up.

透過(guò)影片的所有奇跡，要記住的重要的一點(diǎn)是，《馬戲之王》并不是非常準(zhǔn)確地還原了歷史。杰克曼扮演的為各種各樣的人創(chuàng)造了安全空間的、富有創(chuàng)造力的愛(ài)家男人巴納姆實(shí)際上與現(xiàn)實(shí)生活中的非常不同。而且，許多角色都有改變（無(wú)論是從姓名還是性格上），或者是完全虛構(gòu)的。

“The Greatest Showman” is my favorite movie. This movie is a magical experience， and I recommend15 it to everyone.
