登孤壘荒涼，危亭曠望，靜臨煙渚。對雌霓掛雨，雄風拂檻，微收殘暑。漸覺一葉驚秋，殘蟬噪晚，素商時序。覽景想前歡，指神京，非霧非煙深處。

向此成追感，新愁易積，故人難聚。憑高盡日凝佇。贏得消魂無語。極目霽靄霏微，暝鴉零亂，蕭索江城暮。南樓畫角，又送殘陽去。

I climb atop a forlorn redoubt,

Then up to a high for lookout，

Casting my eyes at a distant, quiet,misty ait.

In glowing clouds the rain’s as crapes nutate,

Impetuous winds caress the railing bout by bout,

Making the remnant summer heat abate.

I wake to the fact a dropping leaf means fall’s about,

Cicadas chirrup into the daytime late

To tell it’s fall in turn with voices loud.

The sights revive my bygones great,

I view the capital, but it’s deep in smoggy shroud.

It brings me back to the past and into languors’ mens,

Why do new sorrows aptly meet on my inside

While it is hard for me to see my bygone friends?

I daylong set my eyes in the far by the rail at height,

But win to bumble into a mute and sorry state.

The rain off, smog extends as far as goes my sight,

The crows， in an uproar， home in evening shade,

The river town is bleak at fall of night.

A bugle sounds on the tower over the southern gate,

Escorting the dying sun to glide.
