Why do we leave home?
Why do we go home?
Bearing infinite vision, a Chinese girl went to the United States to reunite with her brother who had been running business for many years. However, a mystery was hidden behind her brother’s brilliant career and the heroine herself also fell into a dangerous relationship. Meanwhile, a warning has been issued by the environment bureau of New York State, mobilizing all local citizens to kill an exotic species that flows into the Hudson River to protect the local ecosystem, but the Dangerous Species has a favorite name on the other side of the earth: hairy crab.Today and past, home and distant place, reality and fantasy all intertwined in this drama, taking you to observe the history of immigration from a new perspective: what is the concept of what we called Home——why do we all yearn for leaving home? Why are we all afraid of outsiders?
With a humorous and sharp tone, the drama, changing the pathos style of writing concerning early immigration, describes the difference of imagination from different cultures to the same event, followed by introduction of China’s hairy crabs landing New York as a dangerous creature, highlighting the life difficulty of diverse ethnic groups in modern metropolis. The elements of the works are of fierce originality, precise use of languages and cross cultural equivoques with wit and ingenuity. The Dirks Theatre shall try multilingual translations and various deductive techniques to feature the conflict between the local and nonlocal.
