1. A spring flows down from the high mountain. People call it “Clever Spring”. It is said that only the clever man can taste its sweet. One day, a white-bearded grandpa comes to it with a treasure1 box. He decides to give it to the cleverest man.
一股泉水從高山上流下來。人們給這股泉水取名“聰明泉”。傳說只有聰明的人才能品嘗出泉水的甘甜。一天,一個(gè)白胡子老爺爺帶著一個(gè)藏寶盒來到聰明泉旁,他要把這個(gè)藏寶盒送給他認(rèn)為最聰明的那個(gè)人。
2. Many people come. The grandpa asks them to drink the spring and say something about its taste. A man drinks and says, “It is sweeter than good old wine.” The grandpa smiles but says nothing. More people drink and praise it, “Sweeter than honey.” The grandpa still smiles but says nothing.
許多人都來了。白胡子老爺爺讓他們喝一口聰明泉的泉水,然后說一說泉水的滋味。一個(gè)男人喝了一口泉水,立刻贊美道:“比陳年的美酒還香!”白胡子老爺爺只是微笑著不說話。又有一些人紛紛喝了聰明泉,也都贊美道:“好甜,比蜜糖還甜!”白胡子老爺爺聽了,還是微笑著不說話。
3. After a long time, a boy walks out of the crowd timidly2. He drinks and says to the grandpa, “No taste in it. It is the same as plain3 boiled water.” People call him a fool. But the grandpa gives the treasure box to him.
過了許久,一個(gè)小男孩子怯生生地走出了人群。他喝了一口泉水后,對(duì)白胡子老爺爺說:“什么味道都沒有,跟白開水一樣。”人們都笑這個(gè)小男孩是傻瓜。白胡子爺爺卻把藏寶盒給了這個(gè)小男孩。
4. The boy opens it and finds only four words: Honesty is best treasure.
小男孩打開藏寶盒,發(fā)現(xiàn)里面只有四個(gè)字:誠(chéng)實(shí)是寶。
感悟
誠(chéng)實(shí)如甘甜的雨水,
會(huì)澆灌出美麗的人性之花。
