In addition to strengthening self-protection, young people groups face great social pressure after being infected with AIDs. Before long, World Health Organization announced to the public that if people who are infected with HIV cannot obtain enough help and service, the global process of dealing with AIDs with be threatened.
In this regard, Marc Sprenger, Director of European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control said, “In Europe, people who face the highest risk of being infected with HIV have not got effective help, especially those who have sex between females. Therefore preventing and controlling the spread of HIV among these people should become the key content of controlling AID for the European countries.”
The United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS has mentioned before, that it hoped the spread of AIDs could be eliminated by 2030. However, the current situation that young groups are weaker in the prevention and treatment of AIDs than adults has become a great obstacle for the accomplishment of the goal. “Shame and prejudice exist in many areas, and the people who are infected with AIDs are three times more likely to be unemployed than the average unemployment rate of a country. Prejudices about AIDs have become the main obstacle for AIDS sufferers to receive relevant services, including examinations.” Guy Ryder, Director-General of International Labour Organization expressed in his statements. He also advocated eliminating social prejudice, caring young groups jointly and making them brave enough to face up to AIDs, seeking information, examinations and help actively. Only in this way could they turn to doctors and stop the further spreading of the viruses.
As Henry Nichols, an American infected with HIV said, “If one day, my hand gets broken, I go to the hospital to have it bound up, tell the doctor plainly that I am an HIV carrier, please mind the viruses and the doctors and other patients can stay calm; if one day, I go to get my hair cut, tell the barber that I am an HIV carrier, please do the disinfection, and the barber and other customers can be calm. That day will be our holiday!”
