I am an African Elephant 非洲象的獨(dú)白

I am an elephant, not a telephone. Elephants live on the plain or in the zoo. But where are telephones? They are on the table in your living room, in the pocket of your jacket, or in the phone box on the street. I just dont know why so many people call us “telephone”? Cant they tell us from them?

OK. Please dont call me “a telephone”, or an elephant. Im more than an elephant. My name is Ellie, an African elephant. Eric is my brother. He often tells me that the African elephants are the biggest animals on land. He always eats a lot and he likes eating bark, leaves and weeds. He hopes to be a real African elephant, with a big strong body. Being a girl, I cant eat as much as my brother. But I also want to be a lady African elephant with beautiful teeth. You know teeth are very important to us. Our African elephants all have long white teeth. They keep growing, become longer with age. Now my teeth are only 50cm long. I believe, they can grow longer, longer and longer when I grow up.

I am Ellie, an African elephant, more than an “elephant”, and certainly not a “telephone”. Dont get it wrong. Otherwise I will be angry with you.

我是大象，不是電話(huà)。大象生活在平原上或者是在動(dòng)物園里。可電話(huà)呢？它們要么在客廳的桌子上，要么在你的上衣口袋里，再不然就是在大街上的電話(huà)亭里。真不明白為什么就是有那么多人要叫我們“電話(huà)”？難道就是分辨不出？

好了，反正別叫我電話(huà)，也別叫我大象。我不僅僅是頭象，我叫Ellie，還是一頭非洲象呢。Eric是我哥。他常常對(duì)我說(shuō)我們非洲象是陸地上最大的動(dòng)物。他總是吃得很多，他喜歡吃樹(shù)皮、樹(shù)葉和野草。他希望自己也能成為一頭強(qiáng)壯的真正的非洲象。作為一名女孩，我當(dāng)然不能像我哥那樣吃那么多。可我也想當(dāng)一名擁有漂亮牙齒的非洲母象呀。你們知道，牙齒對(duì)于我們來(lái)說(shuō)是非常重要的。我們非洲象都有又長(zhǎng)又白的牙齒，它們隨著我們的年齡不斷生長(zhǎng)?，F(xiàn)在我的象牙只有50厘米長(zhǎng)，但是我相信等我長(zhǎng)大了，它們會(huì)長(zhǎng)得很長(zhǎng)很長(zhǎng)。
