Ian McEwan's 13th novel is an odd one – part novel， part five-part period drama， the story follows young couple Edward and Florence as they go through the tribulations of losing their virginity on their wedding night. Set in 1960's Britain， On Chesil Beach is an interesting and original exploration of British sensibility and fear of the unknown.

I'll be honest - I feel compelled to give St. Trinians a nod because it: A) has a great cast， mixing both established star and newcomer alike， B) is based on one of my favourite childhood movies， and C) is actually a hell of a lot funnier than I expected it to be. It's probably not going to win any Oscars， but it's worth a watch.

While US rockers Nickelback's latest tune won't be voted \"Greatest Song Of All Time， Ever\"， it is a peppy little number with a good deal of tongue-in-cheek humour. It's bare-bones， basic rock music， nothing more， nothing less. Oh， the cameo-packed video is pretty good， too.

I didn't have high expectations when I first came across British indie-pop threesome Scouting For Girls. In fact， I expected another dull， dreary Franz Ferdinand ripoff with no visible talent other than the ability to possess very floppy hair. I was wrong. SFG's self-titled debut album is oddly upbeat， easy to sing along to， and makes fantastic travelling music.

第一次接觸英國(guó)獨(dú)立廠牌三人樂(lè)隊(duì)Scouting For Girls時(shí)我并不抱什么期望。事實(shí)上，我以為這是另一個(gè)無(wú)趣而沉悶的Franz Ferdinand，除了擁有松軟的頭發(fā)外，他們沒(méi)什么天賦。但是我錯(cuò)了。他們的第一張同名專輯火的不得了，旋律流暢，是一張絕好的旅行音樂(lè)。

Except unlike the chirpy cartoon characters I remember from the '80's and '90's， the titular rodent， his pals Simon and Theodore， and long-suffering owner/manager Dave have been replaced by 3D animation and Jason Lee. Blasphemous as this may sound， Alvin The Chipmunks is actually good fun… just don't expect much in the way of sophistication.

《Alvin and the Chipmunks》改編自同名書(shū)籍《Alvin and the Chipmunks》。除了角色比書(shū)中的要呱噪些外，嚙齒動(dòng)物以及朋友們還有長(zhǎng)期忍受折磨的Dave都被3D動(dòng)畫(huà)和Jason Lee取代了。這也許有點(diǎn)兒褻瀆原作，只要?jiǎng)e太過(guò)于苛求，電影版的還是妙趣橫生的。

Matchbox Twenty's greatest hits CD features 11 of the Alt-rock foursome's chart hits， and six brand new songs. Although nothing particularly groundbreaking， it does make good easy listening. The highlight， though， is Disease- a track written with the help of Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger.

Nicholas Cage reprises his role as Benjamin Gates in this originally-unplanned sequel to National Treasure. A hackneyed plot featuring the usual riddles， continent-hopping， and trapped underground tombs is made bearable by good performances from Cage and Justin Bartha as Franklin's friend Riley.

Barbados may not be renowned for producing world-class music， but it certainly did a good job with Rihanna. The 19-year-old has produced possibly the best RB album of 2006 with Good Girl Gone Bad- a far cry from most of the utter pap that masquerades as modern RB.
