One day Mark Twain met a friend in England. This friend came up to him andsaid. \"I am broke. I wish you could buy me a ticket back to London.\"
,Well,\" Mark Twain said,\"I am nearly broke myself, but I know what we cando. You can hide under my seat in the train and I will hide you with my legs.\"Thefriend agreed.
Mark Twain, however, went to the ticket-office and bought two tickets. Whenthe train pulled out, his friend was safely under the seat. The conductor came aroundfor the tickets, then asked,\"Why is the two tickets?\"
Looking at the conductor, the great writer laughed and said in a loud voice,\"That is my friend' s ticket. You see, he is a little crazy and would like to hide underthe seat.\"
一天,馬克·吐溫在英國遇見一位朋友,這位朋友朝他走來,說:“我破產(chǎn)了。我希望你能給我買一張回倫敦的票?!?/p>
“嗯,”馬克·吐溫說,“我自己也幾乎破產(chǎn)了,不過我知道我們該怎么辦。在火車上你藏在我的座位下,我用腿把你擋起來?!边@位朋友同意了。
然而,馬克·吐溫到售票口買了兩張票。當火車開出的時候,他的朋友安全地待在座位下,列車員過來查票,問道:“為什么是兩張票呢?”
這位偉大的作家看著列車員,大笑并且大聲說:“這是我朋友的票。你看,他有些瘋了,愿意藏在座位下面。”
